The First Test Drive of NASA’s Rover- Mars 2020

NASA has reached another milestone by having a successful first test drive of Mars 2020 Rover in preparation for a launch to Mars this summer.

A video shown from NASA proved the movements of the Rover on the planet last Dec 17. The rover endured a minimum of 10 hours as the engineers in NASA tested its driving potential.

The planned date for Mars 2020 Rover’s launching is either this coming July or August. The Rover is planned to take its place on Mars at Jezero Crater on Feb 18,2021, this is where the vehicle will start its mission in searching for evidence of microbial existence in history. The rover is also designed to collect samples from the Red Planet for further studies concerning geology and climate.

The rover is proven to be durable with its six wheels conquering over little obstacles when driving through Mars. It’s next drive will be on the Martian surface which is expected to be a bit rough.

With high-end cameras that effectively navigate colors in high-resolution, it can easily process images and create maps. These features guide the rover to drive approximately 650 feet per one day on Mars.
